When Larey lost his wife of 58 years, his only companion was his beloved dog, Sugar. Meals on Wheels Long Beach made it possible for them to remain in the family home when Larey was no longer able to shop for food or cook for himself or for Sugar. Through weekday deliveries and support services, MOWLB has become a lifeline for Larey, and for other homebound seniors and vets and their beloved pets. Sugar waits in the window for a visit from MOWLB volunteers and warm meals to arrive each weekday.
